Xmas Shoes for all the Children, from Waddesden Village SchoolWe have been inundated with children wanting to go to our school and our present number is 75. The villagers have built a temporary classroom next to the proper one for the overflow.

Cuddly Toys for Gambian SchoolWe have just returned from our annual two weeks in The Gambia, and a very constructive time it was. The down side was that the pound has weakened so much against the Gambian delasi that we lost 25% of what we hoped to achieve.

Gambia Easter 2007On arrival we went straight to see the new building and what a great building it is. The villagers and children were very excited and wanted us to give thanks to all the efforts made by all who contributed. THANK YOU.

Since our last visit Badala had up sticks and moved to a new compund. No one bothered to tell us!! It would appear that the school committe had a disagreement with the owner of the land and they had to move. They dismantled the classrooms and moved to a compound owned by the chairman of the committee.

We arrived in the Gambia armed with £4000 and two suitcases full of toys donated by Fun Junction in Aylesbury, and more pens and pencils donated by Officer World. Unfortunately the owner of the land changerd his mind about selling ity to us, but did agree to allow the school to remain on the land for as long as it wanted.
